Abstract
The level of stress is thought to affect blood pressure. A person experiencing stress affects the mechanism of sympathetic nervous activity, causing increased cardiac output, this situation is likely to be the trigger factor of hypertension. Stress management is one effort to reduce stress so as to prevent or minimize the recurrence of hypertension. The stress management technique used is the incorporation of behavioral and cognitive techniques called behavioral cognitive therapy. Combining cognitive therapy and behavioral therapy to deal with psychological problems is called cognitive behavioral therapy. The stress scale used is Perceived Stress Scale. The subjects of this study were patients with a history of hypertension who had a minimal stress score is. This research method uses one group pretest postest design. The statistical analysis used is the Wilcoxon marked test. The results showed both scores (pretest - posttest and posttest - follow up) showed significance value <0.05 ie 0.000. This indicates that H0 is rejected, then there are differences in stress levels in patients with hypertension before and after stress management significantly.
