This study aims to analyze stress coping strategies used by nurses at Aisyiyah Islamic Hospital Malang in dealing with work pressure and emotional demands. The research employed a qualitative approach with a phenomenological method, focusing on understanding nurses’ subjective experiences of occupational stress. Four nurses with different demographic backgrounds participated as research subjects, selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using in-depth interviews and direct observations, and analyzed using triangulation of methods, theories, and sources to ensure data validity. The findings revealed that nurses applied various coping strategies, including self-controlling, positive reappraisal, accepting responsibility, seeking social support, and planful problem solving. In addition, mindfulness practices, physical exercise, and maintaining life balance were effective ways to reduce stress. Social support from colleagues, supervisors, and professional training played a significant role in strengthening nurses’ psychological resilience. In conclusion, the coping strategies adopted by nurses are influenced by their subjective interpretation of workplace stressors and environmental support. It is recommended that hospital management enhance institutional support through coping skills training, mental health programs, and well-being policies to foster a healthier and more productive work environment.
